WhatsApp pricing, explained

WhatsApp Business API pricing in Zimbabwe (2026)

Since 2025, Meta charges per delivered template message, not per conversation. Replying to a customer within 24 hours of their last message is free, with no monthly cap. Marketing messages, like broadcasts, are charged from the first message.

What's free and what's charged

Meta sorts messages into ordinary replies and templates. Templates are pre-approved messages you can send any time; they come in three categories: marketing, utility and authentication. The price of a template depends on its category and on the country of the person receiving it.

The 24-hour window

Every time a customer messages you, a 24-hour customer service window opens. Inside it you can reply with anything, for free. After it closes you can only start a conversation with an approved template, which is charged by category. That's why answering quickly, or letting a chatbot answer instantly, saves money as well as customers.

The “1,000 free messages” rule is out of date

Many guides still mention 1,000 free conversations a month. That belonged to Meta's old conversation-based pricing, which ended in 2025. Under today's per-message pricing, replies inside the 24-hour window are free with no cap, and templates are paid per message.

What a team inbox adds

The WhatsApp Business API is what lets a whole team answer from one number, run a chatbot and send broadcasts safely. OonoBox connects to it as a Meta Tech Provider and passes Meta's charges through without a markup. OonoBox plans start at $18 a month, with a 14-day free trial of Pro.

WhatsApp pricing questions

Is WhatsApp Business free in Zimbabwe?

The WhatsApp Business app on your phone is free. The WhatsApp Business API, which lets a team share one number, use chatbots and send broadcasts, charges per delivered template message. Normal replies to customers within 24 hours of their last message are free.

Do I get 1,000 free WhatsApp messages a month?

How much does a WhatsApp broadcast cost in Zimbabwe?

Broadcasts are marketing templates, charged for every delivered message at Meta's marketing rate for the recipient's country. Check Meta's current rate card for the exact amount per message, since Meta updates its rates from time to time.

Who do I pay for WhatsApp messages?

Meta charges for WhatsApp messages. With OonoBox those charges are separate from your OonoBox plan, and OonoBox does not mark them up.

How can I keep WhatsApp costs down?

Reply within 24 hours, since those replies are free. Send updates as utility templates while the customer's window is open, so they're free too. Save marketing templates for messages worth paying for, and send them to people who opted in, to protect your number's quality rating.

OonoBox plans are $18, $50 or $99 a month depending on team size, channels and volume, with a 14-day free trial of the Pro plan. Plans include the shared inbox, chatbots, AI replies and broadcasts tools.
